Quiet Books for Friends

With the ages of my daughters and friends, I’m beginning to make quiet books as my standard baby gift!  I’m using old fabric that my mother (a great seamstress) has donated to my projects.  The fabric comes from curtains, pillows, slipcovers, and more projects that she’s done for me, my sister, and brother.

I also just purchased a Cricut Air to help me with all of the felt cutting and personalization.  It’s been a great toy!

Here’s one I made for a co-worker for her baby shower:

Quiet Book Activity – Ella’s Princess Quiet Book

This year for Christmas, I made quiet books for both of my grandchildren.  Ella is 4 and in love with the Disney princesses…we have watched Frozen together at least 100 times.  So I decided on a princess theme using ideas gathered from many places on the internet and especially from Pinterest.  Thank you to all of those folks who are willing to share your ideas!  Here’s Ella’s princess book:

Been Planning a Wedding…

We’ve been planning a wedding for my second daughter in early September…actually she’s done all the planning, and I’ve just been writing checks.

So I haven’t spent much time making jewelry – except for the wedding.  But I did make time to make a few bracelets.  I love to work with mixed beads and mixed pearls…they are a each so unique.

Here they are…

Quiet Books

Last year my daughters reminded me of a great book they had when they were kids. It helped them learn to tell time, tie their shoes, and more. So I thought…maybe I could make something like that for my granddaughter. So thank goodness for Pinterest. I wasn’t sure what to call the book, but after some searching, I found so many great ideas under the name “quiet book.”

So my journey began with quiet books — felt, patterns, buttons, Velcro, and more! I came across some great ideas and elaborated on some to create my own. Here are some of the pages I created for my granddaughter, Ella. I used old fabric that I had from the girls bedrooms, dresses, and other scraps.

It is a great travel book…especially in the car!
